I upgraded my 67 Chevelle 283 to use an alternator with internal voltage regulator. As outlined on this website http://www.madelectrical.com/catalog/alt-1.shtml
As mentioned in the website, I used a 94 amp alternator for a 84 camaro with a/c, bought it from Advanced Auto Parts.
My alternator is mounted on the drivers side. This alternator does not have a typical fan blade, but a disc of some sort to cool the alternator. Anyone know which way this disc should spin to cool the alternator? It feels very warm to the touch. Do I pull it off and flip it over?

Thanks,

tas

Have you ever asked yourself a question, and thought it was a good question, until you put it in writing. graemlins/clonk.gif Well that was how this question was.

I guess a v belt alternator is going to spin the same direction no matter what side of the block it's on, it's always going to spin clockwise while looking at the pulley.

Oh well, I guess this one is right... unless they put the disc fan looking thing on backwards???????

graemlins/thumbsup.gif Even though you answered your own question, there's more. Alternators will work spinning in either direction.

There are lots of examples of pictures getting reversed in ads and commercials. I used to play the trumpet, and I can't tell you how many jazz clubs or stores show trumpet players fingering with their left hand (and left handed trumpets!). My favorites are business ads showing two businessmen closing some deal by shaking with their left hands...
