Ready to fire new engine....and NOTHING. Battery is charged, purple wire to "S" on solenoid. Headlights and all else works....but nil on turning the key (no clicks....dash lights dim...). I hooked up a remote starter button to "S" wire and "+" on the solenoid and "nothing" but the wires to the remote starter get HOT when I push the button. I suspect a bad solenoid....opinions??????

Sounds like maybe the starter is bound up. Take it out and try it when it's on the ground. Autozone, Kragen, etc..will check the starter/solenoid for you for free.
