Didn't get any replies over in "Interior"...

Just scored a complete dash/guage assembly from a yard, and started to dis-assemble it for cleaning.

Had to pick the ign. lock ( graemlins/angry.gif but successful) to get the switch out of the plastic dash, but then noticed something....

This Ignition switch is illuminated! There's a little side compartment in the pot metal casting, with a bulb socket. It can't light up the ACC,LOCK,OFF,RUN,START as the plastic is opaque. Does it shine through the keyhole to give you something to aim at??

Never seen one of these on a '64, and I've got 4 other dash assemblies. Did a search here and no result either.

Rare option, or wrong/different model/later year switch?? (Remember, it DOES have the LOCK & OFF positions).

If it's a Delco switch there is a # in an oval area cast in the pot metal. That will be the last 3 or 4 digits of the part #. You can use that to find the original part # and what car it could have come in.

Turn on your parking lights & the light lights up the keyhole to help inserting the key in the dark.

Nice option, I never seen that before on a '64. Dave
