I'm converting from points to Dave Rays small cap HEI which uses a standard coil. I know I need to replace the resistor wire with 12 gauge wire to get a full 12 volts. Do I also need to connect the second wire normally associated with a points system? Thanks

Might want to tie it back and leave it there. Sometimes a worn ignition switch prevents the car from firing in the START position. Some guys get around this by connecting the yellow bypass wire up to the HEI.
