I just received my replacement wiring harnesses (engine, AC & forward lamp assemblies) and was wondering how difficult it is to remove the bulkhead connectors. They seem to be in a tight space underneath the power brake booster. Do I need to remove the booster or should I be able to swap them with it in place. Any hints or tricks would be greatly appreciated.

There is only 1 bolt on the engine side, in the middle of the plug holding the plastic blocks to the back of the fusebox.

The bolt does not come all the way out, and I think you can get to it if you use a swivel on an extension.

I didn't have inners and fenders when I took mine off.

I used a u-joint and an extension. Took some time but it worked without removing anything.

A hint I can give in addition to the others above is make sure the connectors in both halves of the plug engage with each other when you go to put the new one on. I had a neighbor years ago do an engine swap and we unplugged it at the bulkhead connector but when he put it back on with the new motor the car wouldn't crank over. Turns out one connector did not seat and he ran the center bolt in tight and pushed the connector out of the housing and it wasn't making contact. Luckily we took it apart and were able to put it back in it's slot and then slowly worked the connector back together by getting the connectors started into each other and then tighteneing the bolt some and then pushed the connector on some more and tightened the bolt again until it was fully seated and the bolt was tight. This time it worked fine when we got done. I think he just didn't have it right to start with and didn't watch what he was doing.
