69 el camino under dash have what looks to be a ground wire of some sort, but has voltage to it. Has a very large terminal end with a hole you can stick a finger into. Terminal is kinda squarish. No idea of just where it is suppose to connect. Maybe the back of a guage...?? Help!No electrician here..

Just can't seem to picture it. Can't you tell what color wire is on it? Maybe that will help someone with an idea.

Is this (http://imagehost.auctionwatch.com/bin/imageserver.x/00000000/azss/69slg.jpg) what it looks like? If so it's the ground for the cig lighter. The other end is connected to the fuel gauge connector. If it has power on it, it's probably because the dash cluster/harness is not grounded correctly. There are two ground for the cluster/harness. One is a ground wire (http://imagehost.auctionwatch.com/bin/imageserver.x/00000000/azss/70grd2.JPG) that connects to the parking brake assembly (70 shown 69 is almost the same). The other is a ground strap (http://imagehost.auctionwatch.com/bin/imageserver.x/00000000/azss/69dgs.jpg) It grounds the head light switch and the wiper switch and has a wire that connects to the cluster back. The fuel gauge is grounded to the cluster back.
