While I was working on my alternator I accidently grounded the battery terminal on it's backside. Now my amp gauge's needle points to 6 o'clock instead of 12.How do I fix this?

I did this exact same thing some time ago. It stayed in the 6 o'clock position, then righted itself. Now it can't decide which position to stay in. Needle likes to jump all over the place too....Me thinks I need a new one ($89.00) to correctly fix the problem.

robwilliams, I had the same problem when I ground my battery cable accidently and I wrote a post about it three weeks ago. Anyhow I realized that it had corrected itself in two and half weeks afte rthe problem occuured. The problem willl correct itself, and I found that hard to believe until I noticed that with my own eyes.

You might try a small magnet. The only other way I know of is to remove the gauge and move it around by hand.
