68 Chevelle. I pushed in my headlight switch to dim my headlights as I was approaching a guard shack at the Naval Base. When I passed the guard I pulled my headlight switch back out to regain my headlights and a fuse for the instrument panel blew. Replaced the fuse and as soon as I pulled my headlight switch out the fuse blew again.

Does the headlight switch have the type of design that would allow for an internal short? Or do I need to look to a different area to find my short?

If you keep popping the dash lamp fuse, the short one down at the bottom, it's not likely to be the switch. More than likely to be under the dash. Try looking at the bulbs and see if one looks shorted. Just a guess since everything was working.
