Hey guys. Figured i'd have more engine guys here to confirm my question. Put my engine on a stand finally out of my 69. Turns out its a replacement crate engine manufactured by gm in 1979. Casting number is 14016379 and number on front of engine is vf093800. Heads have stamp of 462624 which comes back as 5.7 I believe. Being 1979 the highest hp is 220 but this block has 4 bolt mains. Can you take a look at these pics and this info and let me know if you see anything extraordinary or if i'm off on my decoding? Any info you have is appreciated. Never rebuilt an engine before and hopefully this will run. main caps are nice and firm. No ridges on cylinders I could touch from bottom end. still see some marks on cylinders....hash marks?...circular marks from running the brush in them? Is this basic engine garbage or good platform for 400hp build up?
