1990 JEEP CHEROKEE 4.0L I6.....so driving home last night and the engine shuts down a block from my house. I tried to start it but no luck. This morning I went out to mess with it fuel system is good so ruled that out, moved on to the plugs no pewer...the cap, plug wires and rotor were kind of old so I went ahead and replaced them still no power. went a head n checked the coil with a plug tester light was kind of faint so I replaced it with a new one I had laying around still no luck so thers power goin into the dist cap but no power coming out....so now Im stuck please help...thanks sorry for the long post.

Similar occurence happened withour 95 Cherokee. There is (in mine anyway) a crank position sensor mounted on the bell housing. They are notorious for dieing unexpectedly. Looking back at the firewall from the bumper, it is located at approximately 2 o'clock. Hope this helps.

Thanks I will look into that, but woulnt that cause for me to have no current on my coil at all....i was also wondering if there was some way i could check the voltage coming out of the coil if that would afect spark in any way.

The crank sensor went out on my wifes 96 jeep & I had no fire at all I also had no fuel pressure. The sensor was a dealer item & under $60.00 easy to replace. The tack in the dash wouldn't work when cranking with the bad sensor, but would show rpm's with a new sensor.

Thank for ur help finally figured out my problem it was the ignition module.
