: 69 Rear antenna routing
thillteamsource Apr 2nd, 02, 10:56 AM My car came stripped to the max, so I don't have a clue about antenna wire routing.
I have an antenna mounting hole in the rear passenger quarter.
My doner front fender on the passenger side also has a mounting hole.
I lean toward using the one on the rear but don't know any pros or cons.
Can some one who's been there educate me?
thanks,

John_Muha Apr 2nd, 02, 12:17 PM Email Don Lightfoot. He only stops by here once in a while. Between Don and Dean you have a good chance of a answer. Check out this thread. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/Forum22/HTML/000909.html
d1_bradley Apr 2nd, 02, 1:40 PM Mine was ordered with the rear antenna. Just installed new one. They're pricey though. If you need one there is a supplier in Florida. Very original and complete. NICE piece. If you need his 411 drop me an email.

Yellow69SS Apr 3rd, 02, 12:38 AM My '69 has an AM radio & right rear non-telescoping antenna. Antenna routing is along passenger side under carpet and up behind back seat into right fenderwell. Ant. cable where it runs behind and under rear seat goes through a metal protective channel that's screwed to the floor pan. Don't have a build sheet but channel under seat is so grungy it looks like original installation that hasn't been touched in 30 years.

thillteamsource Apr 3rd, 02, 11:34 PM Thanks for all of the responses.
I lean toward a rear mount cuz it looks cool to an old dude like me.
It appears I should be able to come up with one that will do stereo for me and I now have a clue or two of how to route a long coaxial cable.
Since I am doing body work right now, I plan to fill the front hole and chase a radio and antenna to fit.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

fastss396man Apr 4th, 02, 12:36 PM Tom,
Just gave you the info... The rear fixed mast antenna will work with a AM/FM stereo as well. The factory just didn't offer it.
Click on my pics below... I also thought the rear antenna looked cool too... Have a original AM/FM Multiplex stereo working just fine with the fixed rear mast. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif
