I am hooking up my starter and I don't know what wires go where on my stater. I had purple to s and yellow to r. Was that right? Also I have a a 454 out of an 80 truck, is the alt. going to hook right up? thanks guys

Starter wires are correct. Not sure on the alternator. Are you trying to put the original alternator (what year car) on the 454? Is your question about wire length? They may be long enough.

The 454 is out of a 1980 and I was wondering if that alt. has a different type of plug in place where you plug the wires in. Sorry not sure of the names

You will need to convert the wiring to use the '80 alternator. There are kits available for around $15.00 but here's some do-it-yourself instructions.
