Well, I finally picked up my CS130 alt. today, but upon closer inspection I think I've ran into a snag. The arm of the alternator that is used to keep the tension on the belt(via being tighten by the bolt) is not tapped for threads http://www.chevelles.com/forum/confused.gif Is this right? Or did they give me the wrong alt?

Should I just tap this myself?

I haven't seen one that wasn't tapped. Had to tap an SI up one size once due to damaged threads.

If it wasn't tapped usually it uses a thru bolt (fixed position) and used a belt tensioner (serpentine type)

I'm just going to tap it for the bolt that is on car now and pray that I don't get stranded on the side of the road because my replacement alt. isn't tapped http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif

You don't carry your tap and die set in your roadside tool box? http://www.chevelles.com/forum/redface.gif

I have a replacement CS130 V belt alternator with threads. It's an aftermarket purchase so I have no way of knowing if the rebuilder taped it or not.

I would think they all would be taped. The only other way would be to use a longer bolt with a nut to keep it tight.
