I have parking lights on the first click of the headlight switch. Then when I pull on all the way for the headlights, the front parking lights go out. I replaced the headlight switch and that did nothing. Any suggestions? Stacey

Stacey, I have a 66 and that is correct. The park lights are on or the headlights are on. Not both.

I do not know if 67 was a different headlight switch, but I do not think so.

Stacey, my 65 works the same way. I hunted for two days for the problem until I read here that they were working correctly!

If you do a search here, there been a discussion AND a simple fix to modify the headlight switch to turn the parking lights on with the headlights.
This was a feature first introduced in 1968 models, I believe.

EDIT: Found it...

I have made this change on my 67 SS396 and 65 Impala by moving the purple wire and its connector to an open slot that lined up with an unused lug on the light switch. This way there was no cutting, splicing, or additional wire needed, and you can easily change it back. You may need a new light switch if yours does not have the extra lug.

The early switch had park lamp terminal tha twas only hot in that position, the later switch had them hooked in with the tail lights so they were on all the time.
