From normal to as much as 15 + volts on my volt gauge running. At start up volts are just at 12 like always when RPM is increas above idle the jump is to just above 14 instead of 13 1/2 + a hair.Turning lights on drops volts about 1 1/2. But it is staying to high at 14+ to 15+ most of the time with no other electrical draw. Bad gauge , loose groud or bad regulator. 3 wire orginal stock system 65 amp alt 3 months old. some one have a plan skinyfisher@tampabay.rr.com

On a running vehicle, 12 volts is not normal. Normal voltage should be around 14.5 volts. Without doing any testing and since the alternator is fairly new, it sounds like the regulator. Suggest buying a Wells solid state regulator. Part number is VR715 and available from AutoZone for about $11.00. Disconnect the battery when installing and be sure the Wells case is grounded.
