I have a '70 malibu and purchased an aftermarket electric last year, during the install I wired the power source directly to the battery so after I shut the car off the fan continues to run until the temperature drops and the thermostat on the fan shuts the fan off. Well I got burned one day when it was real hot and the battery ran down before radiator cooled off. Now that the hot weather is back I would like to wire the power source into an ignition source so the fan shuts off when the ignition is off. So the question is can I tap in somewhere or can I go directly into the fuse box for an ignition source?

Adam did a nice diagram on how to wire up things. However, he isn't home until sometime Monday. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/Forum22/HTML/001833.html

I hope you are using a relay to power your fan, even tho you did not mention it?

You can take any ignition switched lead or source from the fuse block to the temperature sensor to the relay coil. The fan will only run when the car is on and the temperature sensor is closed, or requiring the fan.
