What is the difference in respect to battery cables? I get the general impression that 2/0 is better, but why. I'm considering moving the battery to the smugglers compartment in my elky. Thanx.

The conductor diameter of 2 ga is about .257" 2/0 is about .364". AWG is American Wire Gauge. For your application 2 ga will work 1 ga will be better. Hi-Line (http://www.hiline.com) has crimp on side mount terminals for 2/1 ga cable. I used them on my ElCamino (http://www.chevelles.com/showroom/Elree/batcbls.jpg) They also have the 1 ga cable but I think 25' is the minimum length.
