: wiring for starter on 67 chevelle

need to know what wires go to the starter and where they come from.harnnes was badly cut up.all help appreciated.

Lee, I can give you the wiring for a 66, it is likley the same for 67.

From positive post on the battery to the bat post on the solinoid is #6 B (black)

From the positive side of the coil to the solinoid #20 B/P (black and pink)

From the engine side of the firwall junction box to the solinoid - #16 PPL (Purple).

The solenoid should be marked S and R
Purple goes to S
Black/Pink goes to R

A 12 gauge purple wire from the fuze block harness to the inside (S) post and a 20 gauge yellow wire from the positive side of the coil according to my wiring diagram (http://www.team67.com/images/engine_lighting.jpg).

If the car was switched to HEI when the harness was hacked up you won't need the yellow wire. It is a resistance wire for the coil but a HEI distributor needs the full 12v
