: Very srange problem with my 99 x-cab

I went out to my truck tonight and the dome light was on. I thought it was just the kid's had been in there. I got in, turned the key on and it went off like it should. Then I rolled the power window's down, and the dome light came on for just a second. WTF. Tried the power locks, same thing. Power seat, same thing. Hit the brakes, same thing.

I took off down the road. Everything seems to work ok except the dome light would flash once in a while. My truck has a dome overide switch (http://www.chevelles.com/showroom/tempoveride.jpg) that let's you open the door without the dome light coming on. If I push it in, then all is well. Everything back to normal.

I assume the overide switch is bad. Could it be something else like a door jamb switch, or the power option power feed. Is the truck safe to drive, or could it catch fire.

I bet this will be a bich to get to. I hate this truck. Nothing but problem's from day 1.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Cal

I don't have a schematic on anything close to that. Might want to pose your question on a late model truck site.
I assume the dome light still turns on by grounding a line. It may be an intermittent door switch, a frayed wire, or something else. I'm going to also assume that you may have a sentry type system. One that turns the lights on when you unlock the vehicle. If you do it might be something with that system. It doesn't sound like the over ride switch. That actually sounds like it's doing what it is supposed to.

Thanks for the reply John. Do you mean the head light's come on when you unlock the door with the sentry system, or the dome light. The dome light does come on when you unlock.

Anyone know of any late model Chevy truck sites. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/rolleyes.gif. Thanks, Cal

I meant the dome light. Try a search in the main forum for truck sites. The question comes up all the time.

If your truck has keyless entry I would suspect the module to have a problem
