: Another fuel gauge question

OK I finally am getting serious about fixing my fuel gauge in my 69. I've read most of the tech stuff posted on the site about troubleshooting. The gauge is pegged past full and will not move. I've checked and cleaned all the grounds under the dash and at the tank. I hooked up another fuel gauge to the system using jumper wires and it pegged. There is 5.8 volts going to the sender from the gauge, however when I switch the meter to ohms, there is no reading. There is fuel in the tank so there should be something(right??) Would this indicate no restance and therefore a bad sender?

If both gauges pegged you probaly have a grounded wire to your tank. Grounding the wire does the same thing as your sender in the tank.

if you ground the brown wire at the sending unit and the gauge returns to enpty ( this may take a moment, key on) the sending unit is probably shot.
