: Pertronix Ignitor

I'm finally tired of adjusting points and figure it's time to install a Pertronix Ignitor. I've been told the Ignitor won't work with my coil (told too much resistance in coil) - I have a Mallory Voltmaster Mark II (50,000 volts?) in the car now. Has anyone installed the Ignitor with this coil? I've searched the web for their website so I could e-mail and ask. I've checked the local auto parts stores and they say "not sure, but should work on anything." Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Gramps,
First of all, several lines down is a post on PerTronix by Kevin, and you can go up to the top of this page, click on search and type in PerTronix.
Next, call 800-827-3758, ask for Neil Wilder, PerTronix's engineer, tell him I (Tom Parsons) told you to call him and ask him about your coil's compatibility with the Ignitor. He will have the answer. I don't, but after you call him, let us know what he says.

Thanks DZAUTO, I'll call the 800 #. The reason I posted was the search didn't give me much and wasn't sure about my coil - don't want to burn up a new ignitor. Thanks again, I'll post what he has to say.

I called Pertronics like DZAUTO suggested - couldn't get ahold of Neil Wilder (he's now in QC) but talked with Garret and he was really helpful - the kind of support you like to hear on the phone. Anyway the Pertronics requires a minimum of 1.5 ohms resistance measured across the positive and negative posts on the coil. My coil measured at 1 ohm. Guess I'll probably switch to HEI in the near future - probably a good idea as who knows how long my distributor has been around. Anyway, thanks for the help DZAUTO.
