Hi, a friend of mine told me Chevy put a few bench seats in some Chevelles that had a section notched out to accomadate a manual stick. Has anyone ever heard of this? I'd love to see a picture if so.

Dean Aug 24th, 02, 11:23 AM I think your friend is wrong, I never heard of it tedixon Aug 25th, 02, 12:25 AM While I have heard of manual four speed, bench seat cars (there is one in my garage), I have not heard of a notched bench. GM changed the shape of the stick to accommodate a four speed/bench combo. The stick is curved at the bottom, instead of at the top, as with bucket seat cars. The Ground Up catalog has a good picture of what the Muncie bench seat stick looks like. von Aug 25th, 02, 6:58 AM I remember back in the old days guys with 55-57 Chevys had to notch the seat when they put a 4 speed in the car, since the tall seat was so far forward in relation to the trans. Then I think Hurst started making a weird shaped handle that would clear the seat on those cars. Never heard of a Chevelle with a notched bench seat from the factory. ------------------ von '69 300 Dlx SS TC #15 ACES #1575 My '69 SS (http://mywebpage.netscape.com/jerryacheson/vons69.html) 72 Orange Aug 25th, 02, 8:04 AM Thanks for the info guys!
