A week or so ago I posted a add about a local junkyard in north texas that has a 71 monte, all original. He will part the car out if someone buys the motor from the car. Its a 71 402, still in car and running. all brackets, belts hoses all of it he wants 600 for it. If someone buys the motor then he will part it out, good pieces are buckets need covers, console, shifter, ss dash, wiring, th400, I believe 12 bolt rear, power windows, disk brake setup, doors forward perfect. If someone is interested in the 402 let me know I will give you his # located near dallas TX. e-mail me at steve8tx@yahoo.com

He will only part it out if someone buys the motor.

Have you thought of buying the whole thing? I just sold a diassembled 402 with no brackets for $500, $600 for a running motor should be easy. You could part it out yourself and make money to spend on your car.

stevenb8,

I'd love to buy it. My 350 is dead.

Guys who've been there,

Is $600 a good price? Sounds good to me, but I've been looking mostly at 350's. I don't know much about what a 402 goes for. Also, if I swap all the brackets and hoses, what isn't going to fit? My 70 chevelle is an AC car with PS/PB. The front end sheetmetal is off already, and my engine harness is trashed already, so should I get the monte harness if it is in good shape or should I get a new chevelle harness? I've not given much thought of buying a salvage engine before, but a running 402 would be great. So what happens if the guy at the salvage yard says it is running, but when I get it home it doesn't run? Any advice to save me headaches would be great. This will be my first engine swap.

Since it is a Monte Carlo, it probably has A/c,so you would need the brackets for the compressor cause they are different as well as the other brackets. If it is in the car and running, you could make an assessment before you buy. You should probably get a chevelle harness unless you swap the dash too. Hope this helps.

Ok guys sorry forgot to tell you it is a ac car, fullyloaded, motor, all brackets, ac, ps, ac compressor, water pump ect complete running car! I havent heard it run but he says it does but needs a tune up. If it was me I would pull it and rebuild the whole thing. All original down to point dist, wire harness looks good also.

Since it looks like the motor will go, can you post the guys phone number? I'd like to get a few interior parts from him since he is going to part it out. Thanks,

I'm with 71velle and Drptp70ss, if it's as good as it sounds, JUST BUY IT! You guys down south must have a lot of decent deals on decent cars just sitting around to be so passive on something like this. You will NOT find something like that in a junkyard here in Wisconsin. If it is there, the owner of the junkyard knows what he's got and sure as heck won't let it leave in one piece, unless he pockets a big chunk-o-change for it. The core exchange alone on big blocks around here is $600-$800. He who hesitates is lost.

hey steven8 what did he want for the whole car? maybe we can pitch in and buy it for parts and sell the parts out to other members.??? damn i love this site

reason i ask is because he may part it out but want a bundle for the parts http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif which most do. this way we can all have some parts we want at a good price.
