I'm having difficulty with the center carb. There seems to be a vacuum leak. I removed it, checked the base plate, doubled up on the carb gaskets, only to find the idle pick up when spraying the carb body. It seems to be in the carb itself. What else should I check? Also, the rear carb doesn't seem to return fully, binds ever so slightly. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. Mike

BULKSS, check to see if you can wiggle the throttle shaft on the center carb, it might be worn out there.

Chev64 has probably nailed you vacuum problem, as far as your "back" carb, your throttle blades my be slightly out of alignment, and are rubbing as they close...you can try loosing the screws that hold them on to the throttle rod and and re-align them -- but beware...this is like hood alignment...you may get it right the first try or it may take several adjustments to align them properly.

I do not see any excessive play in the shaft I will check it again . I have disconnected the end carbs so they are closed. The carb that is sticking a little has a bit of play in th shaft but I think its with in tolerance I will try adjusting the plates thanks Mike

If there's play in the back carb shaft, the tension of the throttle return spring may be pulling the plates out of alignment. Replicate this tension when you align the plates. This could be your air leak as well -- engine is getting a snif of your spray through the back carb even if you're spraying the middle one. Spray the back one in the shaft area and see if it revs.

Mysteriously the vacuum leak seems to have gone away. I sprayed everywhere with a nozzle on the can and could not duplicate the problem I had the day before. As far as the rear sticking when I sprayed with the spray It seemed to help it is returning fine now . It still needs to be run a bit and check it all again hopefully I can get it all straight soon Thanks Mike
