The "Y" shaped ducting in my 1971 Elky for the A/C is much larger in diameter (approx 1/4") than the center vent tube that fits inside. As a result, much of the A/C that should come out the center vent, blows under the dash. Is this a common problem? Am I missing a piece in the Y duct? The A/C is stock

I'm guessing that you're not missing anything, these tubes don't fit well without the foam seal around the edges. Just in case, your "Y" connector goes to several places, including a large tube to the driver side vent (a smaller sleeve fits in between), a flexible hose to the passenger side, the center vent, and two under-dash vents.

Of course, I used duct tape on mine, so there's no air leaking out from there...

I guess the foam is long since gone. You are right about duct tape. Not much that duct tape won't fix. Thanks.
