: Front Disc Conversion - Need Recommendation

Can somebody give me a quick recommendation on a quality aftermarket disc brake conversion for the front of my '68 El Camino? I want a truly complete bolt-on kit with stock height spindles. I searched the archives, but couldn't find much.

I've gotten no answer on the 'brakes and suspension' forum.

Thank you

Have seen some of these kits in the after market Chevelle catalogs. Try Ground Up Restoration, Original Parts Group, Year One, National Parts Depot or The Paddock. I am sure there are others.

Unfortunately I can't tell you about the part as I have not done the conversion with after market parts. Years ago I swapped my drum set up in a 71 Chevelle with a 72 Monte Carlo disc set up.

Good Luck

Got mine from Classic Performance Products (CPP) 714.522.2000. It was $749 and even included the new brake lines. No dropped spindles or fancy stuff. It was a bolt on. Took less than 4 hours.mgg

I went with the Master Power kit. Excellent quality & even came with a video of someone doing the same conversion on another A-body.

You see them all advertised in Super Chevy and Chevy High Performance magazines. There's also one called Stainless Steel Brake Corp. Prices are all pretty much the same, and I haven't heard any thing bad about any of them. The guy at Classic Performance Products was really great to talk to when I called them. Call them all and see who makes the best impression.
