Hi,
I'm looking to replace the small 2 core radiator with the larger 3 core. Is the large radiator fan shroud the same for both the small and big block 3 core rad? TIA.

No I don't think so, I have a 71-73 small block shroud for HD radiator and A/C, it will not fit any big block engines. I don't know what year car you have but the list of shrouds in parts book is long, 19 complete units and and 9 partials for 65-75 Chevy models. The fan blade size can be a probelm too, not just the radiator. from about 70 on the started making them in two piece design.

So you could have a fit problem when changing radiators, it happened to me. I tried several shrouds before I found one that would fit the HD radiator in my 70. You also have to be carefull what radiator you buy, I got a real expensive one from year one for my 64 Impala that would not fit, no way no how. They sent me three different ones and had to send them all back, they would not allow the shroud to fit not would they bolt up to the core support. Strongly recommend you buy locally so as not to have the fun of waiting for UPS to come get. A friend put a Modine in his Chevelle and it fit perfectly. I will say that Year One stood behind their product, picked up the complete tab for this, shipping both ways, even arranged for UPS to come get it and credited my CC, did not cost me a cent. I had the original recored for HD, cost 2X as much but no fit problems. Some cars have different core supports and won't accept a larger radiator.

It good you are doing your homework now.

I've got a 72 Malibu 307 turbo350 no air. I updated to a Qjet and headers and my gauge( new autometer sport comp) is runing 195 at idle and almost 210 at 70mph day or nite. I think the radiator size is approaching its limits especially since I'm getting ready to install a new crate 350/300 and don't want to "fry" the motor on break in. All the catalogs don't seem to stock a shroud for 350 after 1970. I don't think the present shroud is large enough to be used with a larger radiator.

Here's one I have for sale at ebay, check it out. I think you will be ok if you just get a stock HD radiator for a small block, if you get one for a big block things may not fit. A/C cars have HD raditors.

Look for the part numbers cast into your shroud and compare them to this one.
