Had one on my 70 monte would like one for my 69 but want to keep it somewhat corect mike

I just picked up a 69 Chevelle this past March for a friend of mine. We bought it from the original owner, and it had the map light. I believe it came as part of an auxiliary light package, option # ZJ9. Have fun!

Rainer is correct, '69 map lamp mirror was part of ZJ9 auxiliary lighting group. ZJ9 included:

Underhood Lamp
Trunk Lamp (exc. Elky)
Underdash Lamps (std. on conv)
Glovebox Lamp
Ashtray Lamp (actually a lightpipe from the cluster)
Map Lamp Mirror

Reproduction or new GM parts are available for all except the mirror.

Yes..Yes..Yes..My '69 Elcamino had the Mirror map light. It's kind-a-cool even if you can't read a map with one.

My 69 Malibu has the ZJ9 lighting group and it includes the map light. All the extra lights are listed on the build sheet except the map light. Must just be part of the group.
