This may seem a bit elementary but I'm having trouble removing the rear seat/back rest from my 72 two door.

Can anyone tell me what the proper procedure is?

When you remove the back seat cushion, there should be 2 bolts holding back cushion to floor pan. It should free it up to lift straight up and out.
