Seem to have purchased a 68 with two different arm rests. Now I'd like to find the correct trim pieces for the arm rest base. Anyone know where these are available or sold? Someone who purchased replacement armrests with trim want to unload their extra to a worthy cause?

I believe the piece you're after is sold by Original Parts Group.

Before you call OPG, read this post from earlier this year..

Just to make sure I was clear about what I needed: I just need the little chrome trim piece that is attached (glued I think) to the passenger compartment side of the armrest base. About 6 inches long. Now, that posting on the arm rest backing plates was very informative and thanks for letting me in on that little scam. My 68 convertible appears to have the correct backing plates thankfully. In fact my car is very complete but unfortunately, the last restoration was about 20 years agao, and it has passed from a caring father to a negletful son, prior to my saving it. This means that it needs another full resto.

Oh, and thanks for pointing me to OPG because they do have the part! But I really only need ONE of them ($35 a pair), and I'm hoping someone might have one in the bottom of their Chevelle parts box in the garage they'd sell me ;) . Found on some, but not all, 68-69 chevelles.

Thanks, and yes, I am a cheapskate.

Bill,

Hey yes! Let me know if you still have them and what you want for 'em. Great.

I just can't wait to get the interior finished. I've only had this car a few months, and I still need to get all saftey items (brakes) working perfectly FIRST. But somehow that empty spot on the drivers armrest was just bugging me.

Pete if only you were closer I have one I'd let you have for free. I don't know what the best way would be to ship it but it will probaly be less of a hassle to find want localy. Try checking at swapmeets, I see A-body armrest bases for sale all the time. Good luck.
