I have a standard steering column that has the knob on it for the column shifter. I have installed a floor shifter and epoxied the knob hole shut on another housing and am in the process of switching them. I have everything taken apart down to the housing but cannot seem to get the housing to slide off. It seems to be fastened to the shifter linkage on the engine side of the cowl. The linkage is off and I cannot see anything that is left to loosen. I cannot find any information in my Motor manual or in the Restoration Guide book. Does anyone have any ideas what I need to do or better yet any pictures and description on disassembly and assembly of a steering column shift, standard steering colmn for a 70 chevelle? I have a cutaway view but nothing to tell me what order to assemble. Any information or were to find this information would be helpful becuase I would like to drive it yet this summer. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/confused.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif

Thanks, Todd

I helped a friend put a tilt colum in his 69 Chevelle last weekend. After calling around here in Dallas we found the shop that rebuilds steering colums (Gary's Classics 214.948.1831), you might call them and ask. There is a lower bearing, you may have to remove it... not sure but Gary's can probably help or get you the right column
