Can someone please help me with my trunk lid? It will not stay open on its own. It will fall like a rock! Its as though a part is missing or something and I can't find any literature showing the trunk hinge operation/assembly. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

don, I had this problem too on my 69 ,look at the base of the hinges and see if one of the torsion bars is broken.they are the long rods that run between each hinge about 1/4inch in diameter.if both look okay you may have to adjust the tension by putting the end in a different slot.

Thanks Dave, Yes a torsion bar was broken. Any idea on where to locate one for a 69? I'll go post it in the "parts" section.

Don, sorry took so long to get back to this post.I dont know where to get a new one. I found mine in the junk yard. I measured the lenght the good bar and walked around the junkyard with tape measure in hand.I found one on 1974 nova that worked.Idont know exactly what other cars will have the same length but i would guess mid size gm is a good place to start.only took me about ten minutes to find one.
