ok the fella at the wrecking yard has 2 trannies one from an 86 monte and one from a 85 caddilac (i know i know) the monte tranny's Tv cable doesn't move though, so i will let my tranny man look at it, but if it's no good then im going with the mooshy caddy tranny. 90 day warranty for $175 and my tranny man will install and do the conversion work for $145 WHAT A DEAL FOR ME $320 OVERDRIVE swap this tranny man is good to (he knew what i was doing and answered questions i had even before i asked em) even knew of the monte SS tranny being different. HA thanks for all your help on the board and i will keep yall posted (will do the swap in a week when the car comes out of paint shop) jk

Whoa up there bud! I just read the article in the latest Chevy High Performance mag. Pontiac, Olds, and Buick 200s won't interchange with Chevrolet. I would double check the Caddy before laying out the bucks.

I read the same article! To fit a Chev the 200r4 has to have the dual bolt pattern bell housing (12 holes). The ones with 6 won't fit.

they both have the 12 bolt Universal patern, i made sure to check, i have done a lot of research since i found that this tranny even existed(would of went with a 700) and know darn near everything that i will need to do (but having it done) to convert it but i do have one q. I saw somewhere that sells a kit for the lockout converter that uses the speedo cable and maybe the brake swith too. Anyone Know where this is??????????? art carr posssible i can't find a web site for him and i know i saw this kit on the web. thanks jk

ok i bought the monte tranny and had my tranny man check it out sure enought the stator support (input shaft) was wore to a point so i went back and borrowed a core 200 from the junk yard and swapped out the stator, (this is a problem with this tranny) but now it will be ready to install when the car FINALLy comes out of the paint shop.
