: quarter trim armrest covers

I just ordered quarter trim armrest covers for my '66 convertible. These are the vinyl covers for the two-piece metal armrests in the back. They are applied with spray adhesive.

Has anyone done this (stupid question, of course), and are there any pointers you can give? Any trouble spots or "make sure you do this first or you're screwed" kind of advice?

And I guess you cut out the ash tray slot last, or do you think the holes for the ash tray are already in the covers when I get them? I'll have them Friday, it's one of my weekend projects and I want to get ready with as much info as I need. I'm hoping it's a fairly straightforward deal.

Thanks much.
Ed.

Should this be in a different area to get a response? I'm not looking for a step-by-step, just any pointers or advice from someone who has done this before. Thank you.

Hi Eddie,
They are fairly simple to recover.
When you are ready to glue. Glue the seam down first, nice and even then the rest will fall into place.
Don't cut out the hole for the ashtray until you have the rest glued into place.

Best to cut an X in the material for the ashtray, then push the ashtray down into it.

Hope this helps.
