I like the red, Deepwater blue (67), Fathom Blue(68), Marina BLue(66 or 67) and black.

I am biased tho, my 66 is blue http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

I like dark brown and have been looking for pictures to see one.Only show 1969 chevelle used this color.Need to repaint my 66 and not sure dark brown would go with black int.Would be nice to be different.I like the burgandy as second choice.

My older brother always says that the early Chevelle in Evening Orchid is the best looking car ever built. Maybe, but I think a black 66/67 SS would be the top dog for me. tom

One of my favorite chevy colors is Huggar Orange. What do all of you think? My car is gonna be that or Fathom Blue. :0)

Marina Blue on a 66 or 67 and then you have a real nice Dusk Blue with white side stripes
69. Don't forget that Cranberry Red with Black stripe for 1970.

My 70 is cranberry...not bad
My 69 is LeMans Blue...not bad
I LOVE 69-70 Cortez Silver and the 64 silver (Satin Silver?). Had a 64 SS a few years back that was an original silver car. Beautiful!! I think it was relatively rare -- never saw another like it! I really like the newer GM torch red -- so I'm painting the 70 this color. I won't feel too guilty about deviating a little from the '75' color code.

70L34- Painting a real red car something other than Cranberry??? Hmmmm...as many '70's I see around that are painted red that are supposed to be a different color.... http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif

For '70, I think either red or forest green was the most popular color.

Shooter, I had a 72 Nova SS in the dark brown metallic/black int and it was really nice. My vote is for Bolero because that's the original color of my '67 and I better learn to love it since my next IRA contribution is going to the paint shop ( my next 2!)

The Cortez Silver w/black stripes is killer however I have only seen one 70 in Black Cherry trim w/white stripes and have to say that was awesome! I did live in Tenn for awhile and knew a guy that had an original 66 convertible that was White w/red interior, sweet!

As for my ride, I chose the new Porsche Silver w/black stripes for my 71. It has so much metallic, it looks like chrome on a sunny day.

Mine is a '72 SS that came from the factory painted #53 Placer Gold. I can't tell you how many compliments I receive at shows. I personaly think it looks great with the black vinyl top/stripes and black interior. One thing I really like about the color is not every other Chevelle looks like it! Of course this is only my opinion.

It has to be 66 Marina Blue, Absolutely the best factory color. But Evening Orchid is nice too. For a later model like 68-72 Cortez Silver with black stripes. No, my 70 isnt either, its Cranberry Red.

I have a friend that bought a 68 with gold peel paint. He found out the original color was Sea Foam Mist Green. What a color. It really is beautiful. Also I like the Wild Orchid. The 69 orange seems to be fairly rare also. I've only seen one and it's in our club.
Incidently my 69 is RED and I to get a lot of compliments about it also. I think that if it's a original chevelle color and we all like the car it's on then they are all beautiful. Personally I would love to have one in every year and color. It would make a nice conversation piece.

OK, let me have it. I've heard it before. I have a '69 SS that was originally Monaco Orange. I'm shortly going to paint it Garnet Red ('69 color). I just don't think orange looks right on that big a car. Also too many cars around here that were originally something else are now orange. I just like that Garnet red with black SS stripe. von

I have to go with Hugger Orange (69) with white stripe and interior (like mine) then Garnet Red. I would then have to go with a cranberry or wild strawberry color.

Hey Von, I'm not one for painting a car a certain color just because it was original, but I love orange chevelles. Maybe if you look more closely at an orange Chevelle the same year as yours, you'll see what I mean. If not, then go for the garnet red. To each his own.

A Chevelle looks good in any color, cause it a Chevelle! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

Joe (who's trying to decide what do with his '70--originally Autumn Gold, now a very eye catching lighter shade of gold. Maybe even Fathom blue would look good?!)

I am a red fan and my 70 SS El Camino is red with black stripes. The previous owner restored it and had an outstanding paint job done with 1993 Mazda Miata Red. I have had the car 8 months and get tons of comments about the incredible red color and depth of the paint. It isn't GM but sure gets a lot of attention. My second choice, Marina Blue, then Fathom Blue. Black is awesome but HOT in Texas during 5 months of the year.

There were a lot of different Chevelle configurations. The best colour depends on what you want to say with it. I think that in '64 any Malibu SS in Silver Blue is sharp. '65 colours were bontanical in inspiration. Crocus Yellow, Evening Orchid...
If your car is stock your colour says one thing, it says something else if it's modified.
There were lots of great ones ('67 Tahoe Turquoise) and it would be impossible to name one absolute best (Marina Blue...).

I was also very impressed with a sharp Monaco Orange '69 SS396 coupe. Black vinyl top, black buckets & console, stock trim, large real Centerlines, solid lifters, Bang! Chirp! automatic, headers and probably 425 horse at least by the sound.

I like the aztec bronze they used in 66 especially with a black vinyl top. The marina blue in 66/67 is neat also but a little to common for me. Just in our local area there are several marina blue 66/67 chevelles. By far the most common color of chevelles I've seen of all years. Neat though

I have a Fathom Blue/black interior '70 Chevelle Malibu that my dad bought brand new. The original paint lasted 20 years and was faded, but received compliments everywhere we went. The 2nd coat of Fathom Blue has lasted almost 10 years now, but is fairly well faded. Not a real great paint job. Decent...but not what I expect now from a shop. I was only 16 then. But again I still get compliment after compliment. When I show everyone a pic of what it should look like with a fresh coat...they gasp and say that they've never seen any color that beautiful. I myself have almost forgot how beautiful it is.
I also have a '66 Chevelle Malibu that has what I believe is the original Regal Red paint. It looks o.k. color-wise, but I believe I will paint it black w/ white Yenko stripes! No one steal that idea....I want to be the first...guess I should call the trademark or patent office...hahahaha...

I like the Artesian Turquoise code KK on 65's and maybe 66's. Was very popular in Northern Cal. Maybe the Fremont plant loved this color.
