Anyone ever replace the side support springs on a bench seat or any seat for that matter? The side support spring on the driver's side of my malibu is crushed/broken and needs to be replaced. I see that I can buy the side supports from several vendors. Was wondering if it could be replaced without removing the seat covering or not? Thanks.

I replaced mine after I removed the cover. You could cut the hog rings, and peel the cover back. It's just kinda hard to see how to unseat the spring.

You can fix the spring where it's broke, by bridging the break with small steel brake line, and then soldering/crimping it.

I salvaged another seat to get side springs and back rest spings.
