bubba68ss Mar 7th, 05, 7:13 AM Looks good. What'd you use for highlighting? A silver leaf pen? That's what I used
Chris

Marci Mar 7th, 05, 10:02 AM The silver is the chrome under the paint...

Chris R Mar 7th, 05, 9:44 PM Well I think it looks like crap, and you should do it all over again. This time get it right. ;)
Im just joking, it looks really nice. What did you use to bring out the black in it again? Wax?
Chris.

Chris. I think I'll just throw mine away and come get yours....lol tongue.gif
I used auto fabric and vinyl paint. It really works great! It's gloss black, made by Duplicolor. Just before the paint dries hard, take a flat piece of metal and run it down the top, bottom, sides and "chevrolet" (i used a med size standard screwdriver) You have to be real careful and take your time because you'll either gouge the soft aluminum or tear more paint off than wanted. I probably spent 2 hours just carefully scraping paint. Then, I had to lacquer the metal trim, because I was scared the paint would scratch off too easy. Not the funnest part, but I'm totally happy with the results. Think it's "show car" material? Be honest.
bubba68ss Mar 8th, 05, 5:55 AM Wouldnt pass with the judges, but it's shiny and that's all that matters with everyone else.
Looks fine. That's exactly how i did mine, except i used silver-leaf pen on the 'chevrolet' part.
If you get down to interior parts that are missing chome plating, i have found that silver leafing (not the pen that i just mentioned) that comes in thin sheets works excellent.. shiny just like real chrome (not like that chrome-in-a-can spray junk)

BUbba Okay, why not??? What makes the judges say "Oh yeah..."
For future use, what do I need to do to make a car "show quality"
storm Mar 8th, 05, 9:35 PM marci stop showing us up . your making us work harder. storm
Bill Pritchard Mar 8th, 05, 10:50 PM Marci,
The reason judges wouldn't like it is because it looks too good. They weren't originally shiny lacquer-like finished, they were kinda dull. But unless you plan on doing a concours-quality restoration on your car, don't worry about it. Do the best you can, learn as you go along, and enjoy it!
