I was wondering if anyone has ever tired or used any of the vinyl dye that is out there. I am changing my interior on my 68 El Camino from the med. blue to dark blue.
Only one problem though, the door panels only come in a med. blue. So I was going to dye them.. any thoughts about the best way to do this? Rick

Im not sure on the other colors but I have seen many examples on dying colors that are blue or white, to black. Seems to work well in most cases. My 66SS has a few parts on the seats dyed black.

In some cases there is no choice as the only parts left available are required to dye the color needed for your interior.

Rick,

If you want to have the blues match send a sample of the blue you want to Just Dashes, they will mix up the color for you. I have used them twice and have had excellent results - exact color matches. An inexpensive HVLP gun from Harbor Freight Tools works great. Just Dashes also has the cleaning solution to clean your parts before dyeing. Hard plastic pieces will have to be sprayed with Sand Free or some type of adhereing agent for plastic.

Hope this helps.

I second the recommendation on SEM vinyl dyes. They are the best products I have found for all the plastic interior parts and grilles. They can be found at most professional paint supply stores.

If you look around most body shops, any rattle cans you see will usually be SEM products. Much better coverage, they must have a much higher percentage of solids in them.

Rick, would you be interested in a full set of seat belts - already blue? Drew
