Does anyone know and info on how many 69 SS cars came with the 3speed manual transmission? I know I don't see many of them but I'm just curious of how many were built.

thanks

Hey Fig!

Can't tell how many Super Sports were equipped with the 3-speed manual, but in '69, 15,748 Chevelles came with the MC1 3-speed tranny. BTW, this was the STANDARD trans you got when you selected the RPO Z25 option. Most people opted for an extra-cost 4-speed manual or 3-speed automatic.

If you want to play with the numbers, GM built 86,307 SS 396 Chevelles in 1969 out of a total of 503,352 Chevelles, whether coupes, 4-doors, wagons, El Caminos, etc... In other words, 17% of these cars were SS 396's. So 17% of the 15,748 would be 2,677. Although not exact, this is a reasonable guess if you agree with my critieria. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif

Fig:
I own one go check out my web site and also look at the So-cal web site at chevelles.net it just happens to be the feature car. I have played with figures and it works out to be about 3,000 cars. Know one really knows for sure how many where made it could be less, but I think the chances are it was more. Any savy car buyer in 69 knew they could get the car cheaper with the 3 speed and install a munci at a later date or use the trans from their old car, then agian the 4 speed option was not that much more money. I have had people tell me they are very rare, and like you said they don't see them around, kinda like seeing 375 HP cars,I think I have seen more 375 HP cars though. Do you own a 3 speed car?? if so do you have it on the web for us to see? I know I would really like to see it if you have one!!

BTW. Mine is a bench seat car, with manual steering.

Hi, Fig!!!
Right before I left Dahlgren there was a sailor selling one for 4,500. It had the original 3 spd with bench seat, original engine. He was not sure but thought that the car had the 396/375HP. It has the same color as Bobby's 69.
Please say hi to mom and dad!!!
Luis!!!
