Hi all,

It's time for me to order the interior for my 70 SS. I called up OPG today and ordered (back-ordered) a set of pearl seat covers from Distinctive, as well as a set of front and rear door panels. I heard that the Distinctive brand is the most original looking. Has anyone had bad experiences with this brand? If you've installed a 70 interior kit, PLEASE respond asap so I have time to cancel my order if the feedback is overly negative. OPG's sale ended today so I HAD to buy the stuff when I still had the chance. Thanks!

My pearl interior was made buy PUI, and I bought from OPG years ago when they were still chevelle classics. Looks great and still like new after 10 years.

I've only seen Distinctive's door panels and I liked them MUCH better than the PUI's I already had. I think you're going the correct route.

I'm about to have the Distinctive interior pieces installed in my 70 convertible. They look nice in the package, now to see how they fit. Mine are also the pearl. Only advice I can give is be prepared to WAIT. Took 3 months for first set (sent parchment instead of pearl) Returned the set and 3 months later, I just received the correct ones! Sure glad I ordered the set before I was ready to install them! Feel free to e-mail me later and I'll let you know how they work out. Good luck on your project!

cool, cool, this is what I wanted to hear! I sure hope OPG doesn't send me the wrong covers. I'll have to recheck with them to make sure they ordered the pearl set. On a related note, has anyone used the two-stage pearl interior paint that year one sells? My armrest pads and bases are in sorry shape. I don't know if there's a way to get that oxidized layer off, though. Should I buy OPG's 71-2 "white" armrest bases and dye those pearl, or reuse my old ones after I brush the oxidation off? It doesn't look like the paint would stick to the surface very well.

National Parts Depot has the seat backs and seat bottoms in pearl in their catalog. I've got the same questions that you have about dying the other pieces. I've heard that it's hard to get the dyed pieces to look right.

Hope this helps, Scott

On the oxidation issue, I'd try to find repros or used replacements that aren't oxidizied. If they are already dried and damaged, the grain will start to come off w/ the oxidation. Had the same problem w/ the edges of my kick panels from sun damage. Found some used panels that are perfect.
Good luck.

Do the Distinctive seat covers and door panels (70 chevelle) come with the medallions?

Hugh,
The medallions have to be ordered seperately and installed. Scott
