ok i am tring to go from a 3 speed manual column shift to a auto floor shifter using factory shifter and console.i tried to install the trans today only to find that it hits the shifter. the car is a 67 and it trans is a th400 with a small block.
the shifting linkage is the rod type. should it be a cable when using the th400?

I am almost certain it uses a cable.

Benny, I've encountered the same thing and through a little research and talking with some guys at car shows and swap meets, Cheverlet made 2 different shifters for that year. The "rod" type for the powerglide trans and the "cable" type for the 400 turbo. I'll sale you the "rod" type if you need one?
