I have one of the '68's with the buick interiors, i was wondering if since there are so few if they are even more collectible than other '68's or not? Does anyone know how many were produced like this? I did read that you guys said they made these when workers went on strike. Thanks for any help you can give me.

My 68 has a Buick interior.
I don't think it makes it any more collectible.
I have no clue how many were made.

I had a 68 convertible with the buick interior, buick door panels and seat covers but still had the chevelle console. I think it was worth less because I always had to explain why the stuff was wrong!

I've always thought it was neat because of the history behind them.
Of course, I remember asking why the first time I saw them.
I'm not a "show guy", but I wonder if judges at shows would add or subtract originality points over this issue?

Would you please satisfy my curiosity and let me in on the history behind them?
Thanks

There was a UAW strike during the '68 model year. They didn't make enough parts for all the cars, so they used what they had. Buick interiors. Nothing spectacular, but still a piece of American history.

Thanks...another interesting piece of Chevelle trivia.
Would they have had to put the same interior on the Olds and Pontiac lines too, or did only the chevelles get the treatment?

69ragtop, interesting that your 69 had a Buick interior. Of the Chevelles I know of with a Buick or Olds interior most were built in April and some in May '68.
Does your trim tag state the replacement on the TR line? Mine states 766-178.
19_Chevelle_69, Actually some Chevelles got the Olds interior at that period too. I'm not aware that any Pontiacs or other A-body's got replacement interiors.
