I had my 4-speed console replated years ago and it turned out great. Unfortunately, the company that did it no longer does the custom hands-on work. I have another in the shop now for my wagon project.

The bottom line is: the results will be better if you start with a solid piece. A piece with lots of pits or large pits or cracks will likely turn out poorly no matter who does it. To some extent you get what you pay for but there are some somewhat reasonable prices out there if you shop around. They MUST know how to replate potmetal or they will screw it up royally. I speak from experience on this one!

A typical price to replate one could run from $300-$700 with some high end places charging in excess of $1000! I've got the written estimates to prove it!

You can visit my SS web site listed in my sig line to see how well the first console turned out. I had to paint in the satin black areas myself.
