I am looking for a console for my '66 Chevelle SS rag-top. I went to my local muscle shop and the guy quoted me an unbelievably high price for an aftermarket console with a tach that he could order and could "maybe" get. I am in Toronto, Ont. and was wondering on price and availability on this item. I am 99.9% sure that my car came with the tach (not clock) option. Any input??

the console on the 66 did not have a tach in it, A clock is what came in the console.
If the car came with a tach it would have been mounted at the bottom part of the dash to the right of the steering column, thats why they are called knee knocker tach's. I for one have never seen an aftermarket console for a 66, I make the rounds to most of the swap meets around this area every year, and a console will run around $350.00 for one kind of ragged, to around $500.00 for one in decent shape.
