i have a 1972 that has different door panels. I know that chevelle had different options available but how can i tell if these are what came with the car. They have a straight wood grain stripe and total black. Any ideas?

They are original.

You've got the plain "Chevelle" door panels.

with the "Malibu" option you get different door panels..

here is the Malibu interior (http://norstarab.com/images/DSC01987.JPG)

Here is what you have (http://i13.ebayimg.com/01/i/00/ac/d5/0f_3.JPG) <- this picture is without the woodgrain peice that you've got and it's a 4dr.. But still reminds what you have.. right?

I am not sure but that doesnt look a thing like my interior panels. My options state that my car came with 702 interior. Everyone else has told me that that is what my panels area. I was just seeking further information to back that up. I have found out that my car came with the Heavy Chevy package and that was the standard upgrade interior.Still just trying to find out more.

The 72 Heavys and base chevelles came with a wood grain horizonal strip. The 71's were the same but with a white strip I think. The vinal interiors were not as nice as the Malibu or SS interiors. To my knowlege, no one reproduces the door panels or seat covers at this time.
