im working on a 67 chevelle 4 door. the seats need a lot of work, some springs are cracked and the covers are torn. i have access to a u-pull it junk yard where i could get seats out of any car i want for $22 for front and back benches, or $33 for rear bench and front buckets.. i need opinions whether i should work on fixing the original seats or just get some late model seats from the junk yard.. i was thinking mid 80s to early 90s full size car.... remember this car will be a daily driver, im not trying to make it look 100% original plus im on a budget..

Pretty much anything you get will need modifications, because the floors are not all contoured the same... But it is common to swap in later seats...
I don't think 1970's full-size will work, probably too wide (those cars were boats)...
For the back seat, most A-body rear seats (1964-1972, non-wagon) should go in pretty easy (maybe not perfect, contoured different, etc, but with a minimum of hassle...)...
For the front, this is where you might have to add blocks under the legs since the floors might be different... This can be unsafe, so be sure to use metal (aluminum?) blocks, and longer high-strength bolts (and large washers under the floor to spread the loading).
Personally, I would look for later (1990's) clothe buckets, like from a Pontiac Grand Prix (But really anything will do)... Vinyl always feels hot and sticky in the summer...
If you go bench, measure up your's really well to make sure the new ones will fit...

I had a 67 4-door hardtop that I got cheap (solid no rust but needed everything) and sounds like it had an interior in the same condition seats as yours. As there are no repro seat covers for 4 doors, I eventually found a guy that built stock looking covers installed front and back from scratch ($200)as definetly worth it. My wife used it as a daily driver for a while. I eventually sold it and I think we got more $$ due to the "original" interior. Vintage cars with interiors from other cars look strange to say the least not to mention the drilling needed.
