I just installed my ford solenoid. now I can get enough juice to the starter. the car acts like it has a dead battery. but I dont understand how it could have gone dead in 8hrs. of being unplugged. when I turn the key to the on position the voltometer reads 12.6 then when I bump the starter is goes to 8 and stays there. also my stereo wont play for very long without dying. please help me. thanx

when I try to jump the new solenoid, the wire I use starts arc welding to the termanal. does that mean that its grounded somwhere its not suposed to be?

Justin: you may be right about a ground in the wrong place, or maybe your starter is in bad shape and is drawing too much current. that would drop your volts a lot.
