I want to replace the lens on my console clock. I am assuming that you secure the shaft and turn the knob counterclockwise. I've tried this but either the knob is really tight or this is not the way to do it. This clock works great and keeps the correct time so I don't want to screw it up. Has anyone changed the lens on their 66 or 67 console clock?

I fixed 2 66/67 console clocks last fall.
I believe the factory used loctite to keep it from unscrewing when adjusting the time.
I used a visegrips with a thin piece of leather around the shaft, and a pliers around the knob. One you break the loctite, it comes pretty easy. They are standard right hand threads, so turn counter-clockwise.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the response, Gary. The clock runs great, I just wanted to change the lens and did not want to snap the stem off.

Here is a tip when re-installing. Put a
1 amp fuse inline with the power connection.
If the contacts should stick in the closed position, the fuse will blow before the coils burn up. That is one of the most common causes for that vintage clock to quit working.
