I have noticed that at times, the chevelle tech forum reaches a point in which 4 separate pages are needed. This is rediculous.

I have also noticed that there are alot of questions that really do belong in other forums like performance, body, engine & drivetrain, and brakes and suspension.

With so many of us posting questions in this section, it becomes increasingly difficult to receive a response because older questions are so quickly replaced with new ones.

If we begin placing our questions in the proper sections, it will allow for everyone's question to stay on longer and get more responses. Just because it is not in this forum doesn't mean it won't get a response.

Plus, I rarely read all the way to the 4th page anyways because I want to get to the other forums.

If we all do this, it will make theis site that much better.

Yeah Ted you're right. I've done it a few times as well. The general tech section tends to get more visibility so I think we're more prone to post here rather than the proper category. We have to keep in mind that our little piece of Chevelle mania is growing quickly and entropy is natural.

Good heads up man.

It's a carryover from the old tech format. There are a lot of us who have been coming to this site for well over a year and a half or two years now. The old tech format had only one question and answer section. Anything and everything was posted there. Old habits are hard to break.

Have you consdered posting this in several of the sections (honest!) You are right in this and the strategy of posting the the same question in several sections is pretty annoying ,too. And since I have borrowed the "soap box" from you, I would add that it would be good to see no more of those posts that say "hey everyone, take a look at my car for sale ad in the for sale section"
If I want to look at for sale ads , I will do so. I do not need to see them in Chevlle Tech. Whew, I'm done.

I have a suggestion, which is probably for Al. Personally, I like to login, get a quick glance at everything new, then logout. I've found that the optimal way (for me) to keep up is to use the "new today" or "new in last 12 hours" scan button. They scan all groups. However, when you use that method, the output format is different; you don't see the originator of the post. Can this be modified to do so?
Today it is certainly easier to simply post to Chevelle Tech because you only have to check one place for new stuff and you can see the originator. If the "new today" list could show the originator and all the other vitals, you could post in the appropriate category to keep things organized, and yet you wouldn't lose any visibility.

Shouldn't this have been put in the "Team Talk" section?? tom

Tom, no, only because its for general viewing, not just team members. I think Ted's onto something though and if we don't get somewhat more vigilant this will turn into a clusterf&$*. Now, that discussion should take place among team members only in team talk.

I agree with everyone. The main reason the General Tech forum gets so much attention is because we always post our questions there!! I think the only way to solve this problem is for everyone to pitch in and try and put their topics in the apporpriate category. I know I'm going to start, because this has irritated me too!!!

the problem how I see it is not enough people are reading the other sections. I post something in performance and dont get a reply for a couple of days. in chevelle tech I can get a answer about anything in a few hours. I think we can change it though if enough of us get to doing the right way.

Ted,

As an example, I posted in tires & wheels yesterday requesting information on air pressure in slicks. I gotta believe probably 50% of this membership owns or runs slicks. I didn't get one reply, I'll bet if that post was in "Chevelle Tech" or "Performance" it would've received a reply.

Justin,
this is just my opinion, but I think it takes longer to get a good response on the chevelle tech forum. Even if someone does ask a good question, I know that I won't go digging into the depths of this forum looking for it because most of Chevelle Tech is a mixed up mess.

For example, in the first 2 pages there are questions about vin tags, tranny's, suspension upgrades, troubleshooting questions, and a host of other things that really do belong in other forums.

I counted more questions about trouble shooting in the Chevelle Tech forum than i did in the Troubleshooting forum in which they belong.

I like to give people advice about their cars, but if I have to deal with this mess everytime I come to the site, fugettaboutit. I'd rather wrench on my car instead.

I agree with Ted for sure on this one. Since I specialize in driveline stuff, that's the first place I go everytime I log on. Then I go up the list from there, and by the time I get into Chevelle Tech, and have to go through 3 or 4 pages of junk, I find driveline questions in there as well. It is frustrating. Why weren't they posted in the appropriate place?? I think most of the oldtime tech people know where to post the questions, it's the newcomers that don't know, so they post in the Chevelle Tech section.

My personal opinion would be to call the Chevelle Tech something else, like a General Forum or something. I realize that the Bench Racing section is for that, but there are quite a few newcomers that may not even know what "bench racing" means. Al, we need you on this one!!!!

I have to agree...I was a loyal member of the body shop group but it seems the activity there is almost at a stand still compared to this group. Thats why I started asking questions here. Its where everyone is.. Likewise, I asked a question here the other day about door hinges for the above reasons, however, the post gets shoved to the 3rd or 4th page rather quickly 1 - 2 days, and no-one sees the question. So I'm relying now on the chevelle-list emailer for answers to the problem. I would like to be able to get onto the site everyday but thats not possible. When I do go back you find 0 replies and your at the end of the road. So does anyone know about door hinge rebuilds from Year One. off the box...

I have started going to Chevelle Tech last. I can read all the other sections in a short time and then will go to CT if time permits. the search function is not being used enough either. Same questions, by different people over & over. Maybe we need some sort of index system to previous posts, if that is even possible.
