Does a 68 300 use the same cover as the 300 deluxe? I have a 68 sales brochure and it shows the deluxe having the white insert and the 300 just plain black with a different pattern . I think the white inlay is very cool looking but dont know if its correct for a base model 300. These are vinyl seat covers I dont know if they even offered cloth in a 300 series chevelle.

Jeff, they are different. The deluxe has the white stripe.

Unfortunately, no one makes these in repro.

Somedays, it sucks being a 300 guy...

I have a 68 300DLX that my parents bought new and the seats are all black. No white strip.

Harold, ok, you just threw me for a loop...

My parents purchased my first one new and it had the white stripes. So have all the other 300 Deluxes I've seen. Do your doors have the white stripe?

Harold
are your seats vinyl or cloth in your 300dlx? I was also curious about door panels if they were all black or have the white inlay. Jeff

Harold, I just looked at the original sales slip on my parent's Chevelle. It just lists the vinyl interior for $10.55, no RPO code. So, I believe you must be right. I've just never seen a Deluxe without the stripes. I hope you're at CB this year, I'd love to see the car!

Guys

The trim code on the cowl tag is
760-910-XZ
Black vinyl-bench
The door panels are all black also. The car was made in KC April of 68. I won't be at CB but will be at the Mid-West Regionals in Tulsa in September. As soon as I get this new camera figured out I will take pictures and E-mail them to you.

The difference may be that Harold's car has Buick replacement interior. My car is a KC April car also with Buick replacement interior. It is interesting that your rear arm rests are the short style, My car is an SS but has full length rear arm rests. I would love more pics of your interior as well as your Fisher body tag (cowl tag). Very cool!

Harold, judging first by the trim tag details you posted, and then by the interior shots you posted (thanks!) it appears that your Chevelle 300 Deluxe may have a '68 Buick Special interior. The Malibu during that time would usually have the Buick Skylark interior, although sometimes they would use an Oldsmobile Cutlass (the S but not the Supreme) interior. I wonder if any Chevelle 300 series may have gotten the Oldsmobile F85 interior?

That interior is weird looking compared to the SMS interior which has the white inlay but the white inlay i thought that it was silver with the Deluxe being in the middle of it.

here is my question did they make any other color interior for 300 Series cars, or was it just black, because every 300 series car i run across always has the black interior.

I've seen a 300 in blue and tan. They were both sans the white stripes though. I'm glad that Harold posted pics of his, that's why I was confused, he's got a Buick interior.

In '68 the base 300 was offered in all-vinyl only. It came in blue, gold or black.

The 300 Deluxe in '68 came in cloth & vinyl in blue, gold or black; plus black all-vinyl.
